Welcome To The Elizabeth Fry
Society Hamilton Branch. The Elizabeth Fry Society
is a nonprofit organization offering services
and support to women in contact with the legal
system. The Society traces its origins back to
the prison reform work begun by Elizabeth Fry
in 1830 among women incarcerated in England's
infamous Newgate Prison. Today the Elizabeth Fry
Society is committed to enhancing the dignity
and self-worth of women in the criminal legal
system. The Elizabeth Fry Society is committed
to seeking out and organizing community resources
to give humane assistance to women in contact
with the legal system; assisting them in making
positive choices in their lives; and monitoring
the judicial and corrections systems to promote
improvements when and where possible.
